Mireya Patricia Córdoba-Sánchez

She is a Doctor of Biology, Sciences Biodiversity and Conservation; biologist with emphasis in botany from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, specializing in geographic information systems and trained in the use of botanical collections. She is working with Colombian different ecosystems such as moors, Cundiboyacense high plateau, dry forest, the Amazon and Orinoco. She has designed the sampling, characterization of ecological vegetation cover, and the phytogeographical analysis. She is emphasizing the distribution of species, their use and conservation status in order to identify priority areas for conservation. She has also identified potential plant species for restoration, and developed biological databases and data sheets of these plant species. She has served as a professor of the chairs of "Systematic of Vegetables" and "vegetation studies"; she has also directed and co-directed work grade at different universities in Colombia.
