Our investigation lines

By applying different tools and methodologies for the analysis, conservation and ecosystem management, our aim is to propose strategies for conservation of biodiversity in the biogeographic regions under study.

It focuses on studies and research in caves and caverns of Colombia. The aim is to promote conservation based on the wildlife, the internal ecosystem dynamics and the influence of these underground ecosystems on the hypogeum environment.

Ecosystem services are studied; pollination and dispersion, mainly; provided by the various neotropical species and their applicability to current problems; in order to propose strategies for conservation of ecosystems and their associated fauna of mammals, as well as understanding and improving tools of restoration ecology.

We make systematic studies related to Neotropical mammals using as tools: paleontology, taxonomy, morphometry, geometric morphometry, and genetics, among other disciplines. These investigations are conducted in order to establish phylogenetic hypotheses by means of the molecular phylogenic information, the paleoenvironments, the biogeography and the paleogeography.
