Student Group of Ecology of Neotropical Mammals (EMN)

The student group of Ecology and Neotropical Mammals is adscript to the Faculty of Sciences of the National University of Colombia in Bogotá since 2015, under the guidance of Professor Yaneth Muñoz -Saba.

 

Objective

The student group focused on research of mammals in the region, is interested in the study of neotropical mammals and the environments they inhabit, including well the study of underground ecosystems. An important objective in this group is the dissemination of their projects and knowledge acquired as a method of conservation of the mastofauna and the environments they inhabit.

Members

 

Laura Camila Cuevas-Moreno

She is the Students Group Coordinator, eighth semester student of biology at National University of Colombia, and member of the group of ornithology at the National University. Her interests are the functional ecology, the evolution of the: Chiroptera, Rodentia (Cricetidae family) cavin orders, and the cave fauna especially guácharo (oilbird) Steatornis caripensis. Currently, she is making her degree work on the Mastozoology of the region of San Andrés de Tumaco, Nariño.

Juan David Andrade-Niño

Is an eleventh semester student of Biology at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. His interest is paleontology.

Yennith Gabriela Serrato-Rivera

She is an eighth semester student of Biology at National University of Colombia. Her interests are mainly ecology, conservation, evolution and taxonomy; especially of Chiroptera (bats) and felines, although in general would like to hear from all groups of mammals.

Karen Rojas-Herrera

Is a Biology student at National University of Colombia, member of the students group Ecology and Neotropical Mammals and of the working group Environmental Conflicts Observatory (OCA), of National University of Colombia. She is Interested in the taxonomy and systematics, and conservation of mammals.

Santiago Angulo-Duarte

He is a Biology student at National University of Colombia, currently in seventh semester. His main areas of interest are the taxonomy, behavior and conservation of mammals, especially those related to aquatic ecosystems. Another interests are the evolution and systematic of vertebrates.

Is a third semester student in Biology from National University of Colombia. Her areas of interest are animal taxonomy, genetics and computational biology.
