Colombian Caverns

The Colombian Caverns is an integrated project of explorers and researchers concerned by the deterioration from our underground systems, the ignorance and bad practices in its use. We have established common objectives in order to define protocols of exploration, research, conservation and wise use of these resources. We generate solid tools for producing a deep knowledge with integral, structural and functional elements, to clarify the role of each one of the actors, in these activities. With the information collected we will specify and implement the strategies for the conservation and sustainable use of groundwater ecosystems of Colombia. And we will encourage environmental education and dissemination of this knowledge.

Biospeleology in Colombia

The project "Biospeleology" has a main objective to know the biodiversity associated with underground Colombian ecosystems. The Biospeleology in Colombia is a relatively new science, our goal as a research group is to generate basic information with inventories of fauna associated with caves and caverns, for knowing their ecology and distribution niche in order to understand the dynamics of these ecosystems. The knowledge gained will enable encourage scientific dissemination of ecosystem services provided by caves and caverns and define strategies for their conservation, use and management.
