The group Evolution and Ecology of Neotropical Mammals (EEMN Spanish initials), of the Institute of Natural Sciences, National University of Colombia, offers different lines of research and generates synergies that strengthen the understanding of the mammal fauna of the region.

From the stratigraphic, paleontological, and ecological data, with genetic tools, it aims to elucidate gaps relating to faunal exchange which occurred in the Americas, and find the relevant information to understand the scheme of the mastofauna and thus elucidate the evolutionary phylogenies and strategies with which it developed its ecology. This will allow building robust strategies aimed at the conservation of Neotropical mammals, investigating their ecological services and the restoration of ecosystems.
